Yvonne Chadderton
History and Background
Yvonne trained for four years in jewellery and silversmithing at Sir John Cass School of Art in London, she also worked for Cartier of New Bond Street for two years in their gemstone and diamond department. Upon graduating she opened a shop in Royton making hand-made jewellery and silverware, and after 20 years of successfully running the shop decided to have a change of direction and now works from her home studio just outside Northwich in Cheshire.
Inspiration
Water provides her inspiration, closely followed by sculpture and architectural forms. Yvonne’s creations tend to have simple, elegant lines and make a strong statement, often using a satin finish on the metal to emphasise the sculptural aspect. The unique and distinctive contemporary designs are classic, and easy to wear. Her jewellery is always carefully designed for strength and durability, hopefully to last a lifetime and become a much loved heirloom. All of her collections are available in silver, gold and platinum.
Opals from Coober Pedy in Australia are Yvonne’s speciality and she carves and polishes the stones from the rough to create truly unique pieces of jewellery, the design of which is often led by the natural shape of the stone. Her favourite commissions are re-cycling old pieces of jewellery, melting them down and re-designing them to create new contemporary pieces.
