Tony Jones
The places that inspire me hold a feeling of history and connection with the past. Sometimes, there are no visible traces, but the stories, sounds and scents of the place are passed down by personal memories, photographs and drawings.
My recent silkscreen print work is purely intuitive and instinctive. I usually begin with a photograph or rough sketch which is gradually altered by the addition of colour and marks using hand drawn and painted screens. I have no preconceptions of what the completed outcome will be. I pause when I think it looks right.
